C Project

The C Project, a collaboration between Homayoun Shajarian and Sohrab Pournazeri and managed by Tahmoures Pournazeri, successfully completed a series of 30 open-air performances in the Saadabad Palace Complex in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

Written by Naghmeh Samini and directed by Ali Asghar Dashti with Hamid Nematollah acting as a project consultant, this performance included a number of renowned actors such as Bahram Radan, Sahar Dolatshahi, and Mehdi Pakdel.

Music for this project was performed by some of Iran’s most reputable musicians including Sohrab Pournazeri (Tanbour, Setar, Kamancheh), Hossein Rezaeinia (Daf), Azad Mirzapour (Tar), Mahyar Toreihi (Santour), and Arin Keshishi (Bass Guitar), among others. Members of the Shahrzad Quartet were also present as musicians during these performances.

With the aim of restoring the Iranian national identity, the C Project recounted three stories from the Shahnameh (Zaal & Rudabeh, Rostam & Esfandiar, Rostam & Sohrab), using a combination of musical and theatrical performances, in addition to video-mapping on the walls of the Saadabad Palace’s magnificent buildings.

Produced by Delavaz and Barana Art Institute, this project was performed in front of 4000 spectators every night, with a total audience of 120000 during its 30-night run.
